The BOSS RE-2 Space Echo is a compact pedal that faithfully recreates the authentic sound and behavior of the legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo. It brings the iconic multi-head tape echo and vintage spring reverb into a pedalboard-friendly format, complete with modern features.
A Legendary Sound Reborn
The RE-2 features a meticulously modelled sound engine that captures every nuance of the original RE-201. Its 11-position mode selector allows you to access various combinations of the three virtual tape heads, with or without spring reverb. The pedal also includes a "Wow & Flutter" control to add the natural modulation characteristics of a real tape echo, as well as a "Twist" effect for creating evocative special effects. The unit also allows you to choose between a clean dry signal or the warm and fat sound of the RE-201’s preamp.
Compact and Versatile
Despite its compact size, the RE-2 is packed with features for modern players. It offers expanded delay time compared to the original, a tap tempo function for syncing with your music, and a carryover function to allow echoes to fade naturally after bypass. It also features true stereo input and output for multi-amp rigs and studio applications. The pedal can be controlled via external footswitches or an expression pedal, providing even more hands-on control.
