37 Keys, Two-Handed Playing, And A Software Bundle That Means Business — Arturia MiniLab 37 mk3
The Arturia MiniLab 37 mk3 is a 37-key USB-C MIDI controller keyboard built on the foundation of Arturia's best-selling MiniLab platform, expanding it into a full two-handed playing format while retaining the slim, portable footprint the range is known for. The keybed uses Arturia's signature slim velocity-sensitive keys, now extended to 37 notes to accommodate two-handed performance, melodic runs, and chord voicings that a 25-key controller makes awkward. Above the keys sit two banks of 8 RGB velocity and pressure-sensitive pads in a 2x4 stacked layout — a configuration specifically chosen for finger drumming and clip launching, where having both rows in close proximity reduces hand movement and keeps the workflow fluid. Eight rotary encoders, four faders, a mini display with clickable browsing knob, and two capacitive touch strips for pitch bend and modulation complete the control surface.
The MiniLab 37 mk3 connects via USB-C, is class-compliant with no drivers required, and includes MIDI DIN output for connecting hardware synthesisers and other MIDI gear. A pedal input supports sustain, expression, or footswitch operation. The controller is powered via USB bus power and can also run from an Apple iPad with a suitable camera connection kit. Custom DAW integration scripts are included for all major DAWs, with 8 factory and user presets available for storing custom MIDI mappings. Built using a minimum of 50% recycled plastic and shipped in 100% recycled packaging, the MiniLab 37 mk3 carries a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.
37 Keys And Stacked Pads
The move from 25 to 37 keys is more significant than the number suggests. With 25 keys, two-handed playing is consistently compromised — the range is too narrow for most musical passages that use both hands independently. At 37 keys, two octaves plus a major third are available at once, covering the practical range needed for left-hand bass lines with right-hand melody, chord work, or split patches. The stacked 2x4 pad layout adds eight additional pads without widening the footprint, placing both rows within easy reach for finger drumming patterns that alternate between kick, snare, and hi-hat positions — or for controlling two scenes worth of clips simultaneously in a session view.
DAW Integration And Creative Tools
The MiniLab 37 mk3 ships with custom-written DAW integration scripts for all major DAWs, which go beyond standard MIDI mapping to provide transport control, clip launching, and mixer interaction that is specific to the workflow of each supported platform. Eight DAW and user presets store different configurations for switching between setups quickly. Built-in creative tools include a full arpeggiator, Chord mode for triggering complex chords from a single key, Hold mode for locking notes without sustaining a pedal, octave control, and semitone transpose. The mini display provides real-time feedback on all parameter changes and integrates directly with Arturia's Analog Lab software for preset browsing without touching a mouse.
Huge Software Bundle
The software included with the MiniLab 37 mk3 represents genuine value at this price point. Analog Lab Intro provides access to over 500 presets drawn from Arturia's V Collection and Pigments synthesis engines, covering pianos, organs, synths, strings, and more, all pre-mapped to the controller's hardware. Ableton Live Lite is a full, time-unlimited version of Live with recording, MIDI, and production capabilities. UVI Model D is a detailed virtual recreation of the classic Steinway Model D concert grand piano. The NI Komplete 15 Select bundle offers a choice of three curated instrument and sample packs (Select Beats, Select Band, or Select Electronic) from Native Instruments' Komplete library. Loopcloud provides a 2-month subscription with 2 free sample packs from one of the largest sample libraries available. Melodics includes an unlimited trial subscription with bonus lessons for developing technique with the controller. MIDI Control Center is Arturia's free editor and preset manager for configuring every aspect of the hardware.
