The Pedal That Started The Whole Overdrive Era

In 1968, guitarists didn't yet have a dedicated way to push an amp harder without turning the volume up to unusable levels. The original LPB-1 changed that — Mike Matthews's first product for the newly formed Electro-Harmonix, and by most accounts the pedal that ushered in the entire concept of the standalone boost. This reissue is an exact recreation of that original circuit, built into a modern die-cast enclosure but functionally unchanged: one knob, one job, done properly.

Description

The Original Boost Pedal That Started It All In 1968 — Electro-Harmonix Nano LPB-1 Linear Power Booster.

The Electro-Harmonix LPB-1 is an exact recreation of the original Linear Power Booster circuit from 1968, designed to sit anywhere in the signal chain and increase gain, sustain, and definition without altering the fundamental tonal character of the source. Placed in front of another effect, the LPB-1 pushes a cleaner, heavier signal into that pedal's input, dramatically increasing definition and drive. Placed in front of an amplifier, it controls the gain and saturation of the amp itself, pushing it further into its own natural breakup. A single Boost control knob adjusts the amount of boost applied, and a true bypass footswitch engages and disengages the effect, with an LED indicating when the pedal is active. The circuit is housed in a tough, compact die-cast chassis for reliable performance on the road.

The Nano profile ensures that the LPB-1 will fit on even the busiest of pedal boards.
