Why Fluorocarbon Trebles Suit A Modern Classical Sound

Nylon has been the standard treble material for classical guitar for decades, but fluorocarbon is an increasingly popular alternative. It is denser than nylon, which is why fluorocarbon trebles can be thinner than nylon strings at a comparable tension. That thinner gauge helps the strings respond quickly and gives a clear, direct sound with good articulation.

A Modern Take On Classical Tone - Ernie Ball Ernesto Palla Fluorocarbon 80/20 Carbon & Gold Strings

The Ernie Ball Ernesto Palla Fluorocarbon 80/20 Carbon & Gold is a normal tension set of classical guitar strings with fluorocarbon monofilament trebles and 80/20 bronze wound basses. It gives a bright, percussive sound with clear articulation, and suits classical guitarists who want a crisp, responsive set for performing, teaching and recording.

Fluorocarbon Trebles

The three treble strings are fluorocarbon monofilament, which gives clear articulation and a responsive feel. Fluorocarbon is denser than nylon, so the trebles are thinner than those in a nylon set of similar tension, at .024, .027 and .033.

80/20 Bronze Basses

The wound strings use 80/20 bronze, a material also used on acoustic guitar strings, which gives a bright, percussive character. The wound strings have gauges of .030w, .036 and .042.

Normal Tension

This is a normal tension set, so it feels familiar under the fingers and does not demand the extra pressure of a high tension set. It sits within the Ernesto Palla range alongside the nylon sets, giving players a choice of materials.
