Skinny Top Heavy Bottom was one of the four original Slinky configurations Ernie Ball introduced back in 1962, built around a simple idea: keep the top strings light enough for fast lead playing and string bending, while beefing up the bottom strings for tighter, more powerful rhythm work and drop tunings. The P02254 brings that same hybrid concept into the Classic Rock N Roll range, wrapped in pure nickel for the warmer, more vintage-voiced tone that alloy is known for.

The Ernie Ball P02254 is a Skinny Top Heavy Bottom set from the Classic Rock N Roll range, made from pure nickel wire wrapped around a tin-plated, hex-shaped steel core wire for the warm, rich tone associated with pure nickel electric guitar strings. The gauge (.010/.013/.017/.030/.042/.052) keeps the top three strings light and responsive for fast lead lines and comfortable bending, while the bottom three strings step up in mass for tighter, more powerful rhythm playing, chunky power chords, and drop tunings without the floppiness a standard gauge can develop when tuned down.

Skinny Top Heavy Bottom was one of four original Slinky setups in Ernie Ball's first-ever string lineup in 1962, and it remains a favourite among players who move between rhythm and lead within the same song and want both roles to feel equally supported by the string gauge. All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to strict tolerances, ensuring consistency, optimum performance, and long working life.
