An Affordable Entry Into The Iconic RG Shape

The GIO series exists to put genuine Ibanez build quality, inspection standards, and playability into the hands of players working with a limited budget, without cutting corners on the fundamentals that make an RG-shaped guitar feel the way it does.


The GRGR131EX is the reverse-headstock version of the GRG131DX — same poplar body, maple neck, and Infinity R humbucker pairing, but with a reversed headstock, black pickguard (rather than red), reversed black sharktooth inlays, and a purpleheart fingerboard as standard. The reverse headstock changes the string tension feel slightly and gives a more aggressive, metal-oriented look.

The Classic RG Shape At An Entry-Level Price — Ibanez GIO GRG131DX, Black Flat

The Ibanez GIO GRG131DX is a solid-body electric guitar built on the iconic RG shape, with a poplar body bolted to a one-piece maple neck and a 24-fret purpleheart fingerboard featuring black reversed sharktooth position markers.

A pair of Ibanez Infinity R humbucking pickups, mounted in a black pickguard, deliver a tight, dynamic tone through a 3-way selector switch. The Ibanez F106 fixed bridge provides tuning stability and simple setup, paired with a plastic nut and Ibanez die-cast tuning machines. Hardware is finished in black.
