Why The CXP Range?

A stage monitor has one job: let the performer hear themselves clearly enough to perform well. Everything else — weight, size, connectivity, price — is secondary to that job, but it still matters when you're loading in at 7pm and setting up again at a venue you've never played. The Laney Concept CXP range was built around the premise that a monitor should be straightforward and robust, without the complexity that turns a simple sound reinforcement tool into a technical project.

The CXP-108 is the entry point to the range — the smallest and most portable unit, with an 8" dual concentric driver that combines the woofer and tweeter in a single coaxial point source, giving a coherent, phase-accurate sound across the frequency range from a compact cabinet. It accepts a balanced mic input and a line input, runs at 80W peak through an active internal amplifier, links to a second CXP or passive CXM enclosure via the Line Link output, and mounts on a 35mm speaker stand pole for use as a side fill or small FOH speaker when needed. Metal corners, rubber feet, vinyl covering, and a kick-proof steel grille give it the durability to survive regular gigging without special treatment.

A Compact, Road-Ready Active Monitor Designed For The Stage — Laney CXP-108 Concept, 80W Peak, 8" Dual Concentric

The Laney CXP-108 is an 8" active stage monitor from the Concept CXP series, designed and engineered in Great Britain. It uses a dual concentric (coaxial) driver — a single unit housing the 8" woofer and HF tweeter in a point source configuration — which produces a coherent, phase-accurate frequency response without the comb filtering that can affect separate driver and horn configurations in a compact cabinet. The active amplifier delivers 40W RMS (80W peak) through this driver, covering a frequency response of 78Hz to 20kHz.

The control panel provides three independent gain controls — one each for mic, line, and link output — plus a two-band active shelving EQ covering bass and treble, and a master volume. A balanced XLR input handles microphone and line-level sources with common-mode noise rejection. A 6.35mm jack input accepts unbalanced line sources. A Line Link output allows a second CXP or passive CXM enclosure to be driven from the same amplifier, extending the coverage area without a second amplifier. A 35mm pole socket on the base allows mounting on a speaker stand for use as a side fill or small front-of-house speaker. The cabinet is finished in tough vinyl covering with metal corners, rubber feet, and a kick-proof steel grille, built for the practical demands of regular live use.
