Strong Attack, Projection & Increased Durability From Remo's Heavy-Duty Two-Ply Clear Drumhead – Remo 12" Emperor Clear Tom & Snare Drum Head.
The Remo Emperor Clear in 12" is a heavy-duty two-ply drumhead constructed from two plies of 7-mil clear Mylar film, delivering strong attack, excellent projection and significantly increased durability compared to a single-ply design. The clear film produces a brighter, more open and cutting tone than the coated Emperor equivalent, with a pronounced attack and enhanced volume that makes the Emperor Clear the preferred choice among hard rock, funk and R&B drummers who need their toms to cut through a dense mix with power and definition. The 12" size is one of the most common rack tom sizes across both live and studio drumming, and the Emperor Clear suits it particularly well — providing the punch, attack and resonance that bring out the natural character of the drum shell under heavier playing conditions.

Two-Ply Clear Construction For Attack & Projection
The Emperor Clear's two-ply 7-mil construction provides a significantly more durable playing surface than a single-ply head, making it the natural choice for hard hitters who require a head that can withstand the demands of heavy playing without premature wear. The clear film across both plies delivers a brighter, more open and cutting tone than a coated equivalent — with a pronounced attack and strong projection that ensures the 12" rack tom cuts through the mix with authority in high-volume live and studio environments.
The Go-To Choice For Hard Rock, Funk & R&B
The Emperor Clear has established itself as one of the most popular tom heads among hard rock, funk and R&B drummers — musical styles where a punchy, attacking tom tone with strong projection and clear definition is essential. The two-ply construction handles the consistent heavy sticking of these genres without flinching, while the clear film's brighter tonal character provides the cutting, presence-forward sound that works so effectively in dense band mixes across both live and recorded contexts.
