The Remo Emperor Coated is a heavy-duty two-ply drumhead constructed from two plies of 7-mil coated Mylar film, delivering warm, open tones with significantly increased durability, volume and projection compared to a single-ply design. The doubled construction makes it the natural step up from the Ambassador Coated for drummers who play with heavier sticking, need greater volume output or require a head that can withstand the demands of intensive practice and performance without premature wear. Despite its heavier construction, the Emperor Coated retains the warm, open character associated with the coated finish, producing a full-bodied tone with more controlled sustain and enhanced low-end warmth compared to its single-ply counterpart. Suitable across snare, tom and bass batter applications, it is a versatile and dependable choice for drummers across rock, pop, funk and beyond.

Two-Ply Construction For Durability & Projection
The Emperor's two-ply 7-mil construction provides a significantly more durable playing surface than a single-ply head, making it the preferred choice for hard hitters and high-volume players who require a head that can keep up with the demands of heavy playing over the long term. The additional ply also increases the head's projection and volume output, making the Emperor Coated particularly well suited to louder live performance environments where cutting through the mix is a priority.
Warm, Open Tones With Controlled Sustain
Despite the heavier two-ply construction, the Emperor Coated retains a warm and open tonal character thanks to the coated finish and the quality of the Mylar film used across both plies. Compared to the Ambassador Coated, the Emperor produces a slightly more controlled sustain and enhanced low-end warmth — a tonal profile that works exceptionally well on toms, where a fuller, more resonant sound with natural decay is often desired, and on snare drums where added weight and projection are required.
