Steinberg Cubase Elements 15 is the entry-level version of Cubase, designed as a complete introduction to professional music production rather than a compromised subset of a larger product. It supports up to 64 audio tracks and 128 MIDI tracks, provides the MixConsole for mixing, the Key Editor and Drum Editor for MIDI programming, the Chord Track and Scale Assistant for compositional guidance, and a solid set of included instruments and effects covering the essentials — HALion Sonic SE for multi-timbral playback, Groove Agent SE 6 for drums and beats, and stock effects covering EQ, compression, reverb, delay, and modulation. New in Cubase 15, Elements also receives AI stem separation for isolating and working with individual stems from any audio file, the redesigned Hub for smoother project startup, Groove Agent SE 6 with its pattern player and style-based drumming, Folder Track group channel routing, scalable plugin interfaces, and the new automation shortcuts.

The project format is fully compatible with Cubase Artist and Pro, so projects started in Elements can be opened and continued in either of the higher tiers without any conversion or compatibility issues. This makes Elements a practical starting point that grows with the user rather than a dead end that requires rebuilding work when upgrading.

Elements vs Artist

Cubase Elements 15 does not include VariAudio pitch correction, Chord Pads, the full Pattern Editor with the new melodic pattern sequencer, multi-track AudioWarp, Retrologue, Padshop, Verve, and Trip virtual instruments, the Writing Room Synths collection, or the full MixConsole channel strip. It also does not include Tonalic essential (which is available to Pro and Artist users only). For users who record vocals and need pitch correction, or who want a larger palette of synthesis and sound design tools without third-party plugins, upgrading to Artist is a meaningful step up.

This is a single user Educational License - proof of educational eligibility is required and may be requested by the software manufacturer at any time after purchase. If you are not a student or faculty member, please purchase the non-educational retail version instead.
