The Vic Firth American Classic Extreme X5A is a hickory drumstick that takes the standard 5A's diameter and taper and extends the overall length by half an inch to 16.5", giving drummers increased reach and leverage without significantly altering the stick's balance or feel. Turned from select hickory for a pronounced, articulate sound and lasting durability, the X5A carries a teardrop wood tip that delivers a full, rich sound on cymbals and drums with excellent articulation and clarity. Each pair is precision-matched to within 0.01oz for consistent balance, and guaranteed straight, weight-sorted, and tone-paired as part of Vic Firth's standard quality process.

The extra half-inch of length particularly suits players who find the standard 5A a touch short for their reach, or who want a bit more leverage and power on rock and heavier styles without stepping up to the thicker 5B diameter. This is my second Snark Tuner, there are various versions, this one is for use at home the other is RF shielded and has rubber protection incase dropped. Both work excellent and are the best clip-on tuners I have used.
